ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari signed the seventh National Finance Commission Award on Tuesday at the Presidency. The president called it a victory for all four provinces and all the political parties in the country.
The seventh NFC award has ensured financial autonomy for the provinces and the needs and requirements of the provinces have been recognised.
President Zardari said that the seventh NFC award depicted democracy in action.
The ceremony was attended by the prime minister, members of the federal cabinet, the four governors, chief ministers and members of the Parliament.
The award recognised NWFP as the frontline province in the war against terror. The NWFP is to receive Rs.110 billion as hydel profit, which would be paid in instalments.
